Iran’s Guard Urges US Voters to Oust Trump Allies as Troops Complete Iraq Withdrawal

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps called on Americans to remove President Donald Trump’s congressional allies at the ballot box, timing the appeal to coincide with the final withdrawal of US forces from Iraq on Wednesday — a pullout Tehran is presenting as a victory for its regional network of allied armed groups. The IRGC’s message, delivered through a 26-page letter published Tuesday, urges American voters to use their political influence to push out current leaders and reject Washington’s backing for Israel and military intervention abroad. The letter arrives five weeks ahead

of US midterm elections and a day after the war between Iran and the US-Israel coalition passed the seven-month mark, with the Guard framing the moment as one when America’s political establishment is especially vulnerable to pressure.

The Iraq withdrawal, completed after 23 years of US military presence in the country, follows a 2024 agreement reached under former President Joe Biden.

Trump, who as a candidate in 2016 broke with his party by calling the original Iraq invasion a mistake, allowed the pullout to proceed despite the ongoing hostilities with Tehran.

Polling cited in the appeal reflects genuine strain on Trump’s political standing: a Reuters/Ipsos survey published September 21 found only 17 percent of respondents approved of his handling of living costs, the issue Americans identified as most likely to shape their vote in November, while just 34 percent backed the strikes on Iran.

The conflict has pulled in Iran-aligned factions across the region, including Yemen’s Houthis, Hezbollah in Lebanon and militias in Iraq — the latter blamed by Saudi Arabia for a September 10 strike that knocked out the East-West pipeline.

Tehran says its broader goal remains pushing American forces out of the Middle East entirely.

Despite several rounds of talks and temporary ceasefires, Washington and Tehran have yet to agree on terms to end the war, with Qatar continuing to shuttle messages between the two sides in search of common ground. Middle East Report
