Erdogan Advocates for Continued US-Iran Dialogue as Ankara Intensifies Regional Mediation Efforts

The Turkish government is getting more involved in the security problems in the Middle East because the president Recep Tayyip Erdogan talked to Donald Trump on the phone and said they should keep talking to Tehran directly. Erdogan wants to help make peace in the area because things are getting worse.

He said Turkey really wants to help make peace talks happen. The Turkish government thinks they should use every way to make sure the region is stable. Turkey is next to Iran and has an army so they really want the fighting to stop.

The Turkish government is working with countries like Pakistan and Qatar and they are still talking to Washington and the Islamic Republic.

The current diplomatic gridlock has also prevented any progress in reopening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz for international energy shipments.

Ankara’s diplomatic approach remains measured, with officials criticizing strikes on Iranian soil while also condemning actions targeting Gulf nations. The Turkish foreign ministry remains in contact with Tehran regarding maritime safety and the potential return of crude oil traffic.

The presidents also reviewed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza and the recently ratified mutual defense agreement between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, which is viewed as a pillar for collective security in the Middle East.
