Child Among Two Dead as Israeli Airstrikes Shake Central Gaza Strip
Two Palestinians including a four-year old boy died while seven others got injured Sunday as a result of renewed bombings by the Israeli air force in the central part of Gaza. The killings occurred despite the presence of a truce process in place, revealing the still existing security problems in the region.
Local medical sources revealed that four-year old Mohammad Abdel-Salam Taha had died due to the injuries he had sustained as a result of shrapnel injuries in a sheltered area of Zawayda.
Local sources confirmed that Israeli soldiers gave prior warning to the occupants of buildings before destroying the targeted building. There was also another attack on positions near the Nuseirat refugee camp. This attack also caused some casualties. Israeli defense sources said the attacks would be investigated.
The renewed aerial bombardment coincided with formal warnings from Tel Aviv regarding potential operational escalation. Israeli authorities asserted that retaliatory actions would intensify if incendiary devices, kites, and unmanned aerial vehicles continued to cross the boundary into southern Israeli territories.
Israeli military commanders separately reported eliminating senior Hamas operative Sharif Al-Hasnat in Deir Al-Balah, accusing him of reconstructing subterranean tunnel infrastructure.
The escalating strikes further destabilize the U.S.-backed ceasefire established in October 2025. Gaza health authorities estimate over 1,280 Palestinian fatalities since the truce took effect, while Israeli officials record four military deaths during the same period.
Hamas leaders continue to accuse Israel of violating peace terms and impeding comprehensive disarmament and withdrawal frameworks outlined by Washington.
Simultaneously, violence flared across the occupied West Bank. Palestinian medical officers reported that 14-year-old Islam Ajjouri was fatally shot during an Israeli military operation at the Askar refugee camp near Nablus.
In a separate incident near Jericho, an Israeli civilian suffered knife wounds along a main highway, triggering an ongoing security search for the fleeing suspect.
