The Ministry of International Affairs, along side the Ministry of Finance, Making plans and Financial Construction, held a strategic retreat from June 21 to twenty-five, 2026 in Istanbul, Turkiye, specializing in selling Uganda’s business and funding alternatives within the Gulf and Heart East areas.
Underneath the theme “Unlocking Uganda’s Trade and Investment Potential from Economic and Trade Diplomacy (ECD) Interventions”, the retreat introduced in combination the Uganda Missions of Riyadh, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ankara to study their ECD actions, assess efficiency and align efforts with nationwide financial goals for fiscal 12 months 2026/27.
Ambassador Henry Mayega, Head of the Division of Global Financial Cooperation, formally opened the retreat, highlighting the rise in investment and strengthen from the Ministry of Finance during the last two monetary years, spotting the important function of the Ministry and the Missions in Uganda’s socio-economic transformation. “Missions have received better funding and are therefore encouraged to prioritize achievable objectives and focus on activities with measurable and tangible results,” Mayega emphasised.
Ambassador Richard Kabonero, Head of the newly created Heart for Financial and Business International relations, described efforts to deal with demanding situations similar to coordination gaps, restricted stakeholder participation and inadequate business knowledge. He highlighted the significance of getting efficient reporting mechanisms and alignment with Uganda’s Tenfold Enlargement Time table, the Fourth Nationwide Plan
Construction Plan and Imaginative and prescient 2040 to maximise the have an effect on on tourism, business, funding and financial expansion. The retreat additionally featured a presentation of a strategic outlook at the Heart East through Mr. Joseph Enyimu, Commissioner for Financial Coverage Analysis and Construction on the Ministry of Finance, bettering focal point and alignment of missions. He underlined the strategic significance of Istanbul as an international business hub connecting Asia, Europe and the Heart East, making it a perfect location to study growth and foster cooperation between Ugandan missions.
This retreat concluded a sequence of regional evaluations carried out previous within the 12 months for Uganda’s missions in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and Europe and the Americas, marking a complete effort to fortify Uganda’s financial international relations all over the world.
